Effect of Modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction Combined with Metformin on Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Integral and Islet Function in Pa-tients with Gastrointestinal Damp-heat Syndrome of Type 2 Diabetes Mel-litus
Effect of Modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction Combined with Metformin on Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Integral and Islet Function in Pa-tients with Gastrointestinal Damp-heat Syndrome of Type 2 Diabetes Mel-litus
Objective To investigate the effect of modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction combined with metformin on pa-tients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)with gastrointestinal damp-heat syndrome.Methods A total of 78 patients with T2DM gastrointestinal damp-heat syndrome admitted to Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from April 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the research objects.According to different treatment methods,they were divided into control group and observation group,with 39 cases in each group.The control group was given met-formin hydrochloride tablets orally.The observation group was given modified Gegen Qinlian Decoction on the basis of the control group.The traditional chinese medicine syndrome scores,blood glucose levels(fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial plasma glucose,glycated hemoglobin A1c),islet function(insulin resistance index,islet β cell func-tion index)and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the traditional chi-nese medicine syndrome score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial plasma glucose and glycated hemoglobin A1c in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of insulin resistance index in the two groups decreased,and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,the islet β cell function index in the two groups increased,and that in the observation group was higher than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of Gegen Qinlian Decoction and metformin in pa-tients with T2DM gastrointestinal damp-heat syndrome can effectively improve traditional chinese medicine symp-toms,blood glucose levels and islet function,with high safety.
