Objective To investigate the effect of sitagliptin phosphate tablets combined with glimepiride tablets on blood glucose index and adverse reactions in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 80 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus admitted to Youxi County General Hospital from January 2020 to December 2022 were selected as the research objects, and they were divided into two groups according to different treatment methods, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with sitagliptin phosphate+conventional treatment, and the study group was treated with glimepiride on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy, blood glucose in-dexes,insulin resistance index, islet β cell function index and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The effective rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose,gly-cated hemoglobin A1c levels of the study group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the insulin resistance index of the study group was lower than that of the control group, and the islet β cell function index was higher than that of the control group, and the differ-ences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Sitagliptin phosphate combined with glimepiride in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus can improve the clinical efficacy, reduce the level of blood glucose indicators, and improve islet function.
