Practical Study of Nursing Intervention Based on IKAP Theory on Self-management and Blood Glucose Control in Elderly Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Objective To explore the practical effect of nursing intervention based on information-knowledge-attitude-practice(IKAP)theory on self-management and blood glucose control in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 200 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus admitted to Dongtai People's Hospital from November 2022 to October 2023 were selected as the research objects.According to different nursing methods, they were divided into two groups, with 100 cases in each group. The routine group received standard routine nursing, and the study group received nursing intervention based on IKAP theory on the basis of routine nursing. The nursing compliance, blood glucose levels, nursing satisfaction and self-management ability scores were compared between the two groups. Results After nursing, the levels of fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin A1c in the study group were lower than those of the routine group, and the nursing compliance, nursing satisfaction and scores of self-management ability were higher than those of the routine group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion The nursing intervention based on IKAP theory has a positive impact on the self-management and blood glucose control of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can effectively improve the blood glucose level of patients, improve the self-management ability, and improve the satisfaction and compliance of patients with nursing effect.
