Effects of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy Combined with Semaglutide on Glucose and Lipid Metabolism and Body Weight in Obese Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Objective To investigate the effect of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG)combined with semaglutide on glucose and lipid metabolism and body weight in obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods The clincal data of 80 obese patients with T2DM admitted to Shanghai Jiading District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2021 to September 2023 were retrospectively selected and divided into two groups according to different treatment methods,with 40 cases in each group.Group A was treated with LSG combined with metformin,and group B was treated with LSG combined with semaglutide.The levels of fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postpran-dial plasma glucose,glycated hemoglobin A1c,triglyceride,total cholesterol,body mass index and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups.Results Before treatment,there were no statistically significant differences in fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial plasma glucose,glycated hemoglobin A1c levels between the two groups(all P>0.05).After treatment,the levels of fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial plasma glucose,glycated hemoglobin A1c in the two groups decreased,and those in the group B were lower than the group A,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Before treatment,there were no statistically statistically signifi-cant differences in triglyceride,total cholesterol and body mass index between the two groups(all P>0.05).After treat-ment,the triglyceride,total cholesterol and body mass index of the two groups were decreased,and those of group B were lower than those of group A,and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).There was no statisti-cally significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion LSG combined with semaglutide is effective in the treatment of obesity with type 2 diabetes mellitus,which can effectively control glucose and lipid metabolism and has high safety.
