Objective To analyze the effects of metformin and semiglutide therapy on metabolic function in type 2 dia-betes mellitus patients with obesity. Methods A total of 77 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity admit-ted to Laiyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2023 to February 2024 were selected as the re-search objects.According to different treatment methods, they were divided into control group(n=38)and study group(n=39).The control group was treated with metformin, and the study group was treated with metformin combined with semeiglutide. The blood glucose indexes, lipid metabolism indexes and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial plasma glucose and glycated he-moglobin A1c in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and those in the study group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the total choles-terol and triglyceride in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the study group was lower than the control group, the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the in-cidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Metformin and semaglutide therapy can control glucose and lipid metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity reliably, and does not in-crease the risk of drug use,and the efficacy and safety can be guaranteed.
