Effect of Different Insulin Administration Methods on Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Complicated with Severe Respiratory Failure and the Influence on Blood Glucose Level
Objective To analyze the effect of different insulin administration on type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with severe respiratory failure and its influence on blood glucose level. Methods Clinical data of 90 diabetic patients with severe respiratory failure admitted to the Quanzhou First Hospital Chengdong Branch from June 2023 to March 2024 were retrospectively selected, and divided into two groups according to different treatment methods, with 45 cases in each group. Both groups received conventional treatment, including antioxidant therapy, infection, asthmatic relief, phlegm reduction, etc. In diabetes treatment, insulin was injected intravenously in the control group, and insu-lin was pumped subcutaneously in the study group. The clinical efficacy, blood glucose level, lung function and ad-verse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin A1c in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in the first second and maxi-mum ventilation were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Subcutaneous pump insulin for type 2 diabetes combined with severe respiratory failure has high clinical efficacy, improved blood glucose level and lung function, and low risk of adverse effects.
