Objective To explore the application effect of metformin combined with smeglutide in diabetic patients. Methods The clinical data of 120 diabetic patients admitted to Huadu District People's Hospital of Guangzhou from December 2022 to September 2023 were retrospectively selected and divided into two groups according to different treatment methods, with 60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with metformin sustained-release tab-lets,and the observation group was treated with metformin combined with semeglutide. The glucose and lipid metabo-lism indexes, insulin resistance indexes and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the levels of fasting plasma glucose,2-hour postprandial plasma glucose, glycated hemoglo-bin A1c,total cholesterol, triglyceride and low density lipoprotein cholesterol in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of fasting insulin, fasting C-peptide and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Metformin sustained-release tablets combined with Semeglutide in diabetic patients can help reduce the level of glucose and lipid metabolism in patients, improve insulin resistance, and do not increase the incidence of adverse reactions.
