This paper discusses the role of the government in the digital economy,analyzes the current situation of the development of the digital economy,the challenges faced by the government and the counter-measures.The digital economy has become a major driver of global economic growth,revolutionizing the way production and services are produced.The government plays a key role in promoting the development of the digital economy,maintaining a level playing field,and protecting the rights and interests of consumers.Through the analysis of the development trend of the global and Chinese digital economy,the paper points out the challenges faced by the government in the digital economy,such as technology iteration and lagging regu-lations,digital divide,data security and privacy protection.The paper also explores the role and experi-ence of the government in the digital economy through two cases of Singapore's"smart Nation"strategy and Al-ibaba's cooperation with the government to combat counterfeit and shoddy goods.Finally,it puts forward the direction and policy suggestions of government governance innovation in the era of digital economy,includ-ing strengthening the construction of laws and regulations,narrowing the digital divide,strengthening data security and privacy protection,encouraging scientific and technological innovation and investment,and looks forward to the expansion and deepening of the role of government in the digital economy in the fu-ture.
