In China,great progress has been made in deep and ultra-deep oil and gas exploration and development,and China National Petroleum Corporation(CNPC)has built two deep and ultra-deep oil and gas production bases in the Tarim Basin and the Sichuan Basin,but there are still some core issues restricting the efficient development of deep and ultra-deep gas reservoirs.In order to promote the efficient development of deep and ultra deep gas reservoirs,this paper reviews CNPC's practices in developing different types of typical deep and ultra-deep gas reservoirs,and sorts out the problems and challenges in the process of gas reservoir development.Then,the key technologies for gas reservoir development are summarized.Finally,some countermeasures to develop deep and ultra-deep gas reservoirs are proposed.And the following research results are obtained.First,the quantitative characterization technique for small caves and micro fractures in deep and ultra deep karst carbonate gas reservoirs and the multi-scale fracture description technique with dynamic and static data for fractured-porous clastic rock gas reservoirs make possible the quantitative characterization of pore structure characteristic parameters and the fine description and spatial prediction of fractures in different scales,improve the success rate of development wells,and ensure the efficient utilization of reserves.Second,the technique for dividing development units and characterizing water intrusion channels and the technique for evaluating non-uniform water intrusion behaviors in fractures make possible the behavior evaluation and accurate prediction of water intrusion in different development stages,and lay a foundation for formulating differentiated development technological policies for different development units.Third,the progressive water-controlling development model for the entire life cycle of karst carbonate gas reservoirs and the water control and drainage-EOR technique for fractured-porous clastic rock gas reservoirs achieve balanced gas reservoir development and improve gas reservoir recovery overall.In conclusion,deep and ultra deep gas reservoirs have complex geological and engineering environments and strong reservoir heterogeneity.Therefore,it is necessary to further strengthen the pre-evaluation of gas reservoirs and the researches on well patterns and water invasion laws in different blocks,and carry out comprehensive research on the collaborative development of gas field groups.
