Development status,advantages and challenges of CCUS/CCS in PetroChina Southwest Oil&Gasfield Company
PetroChina Southwest Oil&Gasfield Company is the first oil and gas production enterprise with an yearly natural gas production exceeding 400×108 m3 in southwestern China,and its new productivity increase and production increase of natural gas account for 1/4 and 1/3 of natural increase,respectively.It is expected that carbon emissions from natural gas development will exceed 500×104 t in 2030.In order to deal with the rigid increase of carbon emission in the process of high-quality natural gas productivity construction,PetroChina Southwest Oil&Gasfield Company actively deploys CCUS/CCS work focusing on the strategic planning of"natural gas + CCUS",so as to make contribution to the establishment of"Southwest Model of Green Energy"and the achievement of"dual-carbon"goals.In this paper,the development status of CCUS/CCS in PetroChina Southwest Oil&Gasfield Company is systematically described in terms of business planning,standard systems and technological advancement.Then,the resource and technological advantages of PetroChina Southwest Oil&Gasfield Company in CCUS/CCS business are reviewed,and the challenges are analyzed,such as immature technology,lack of economic benefits,and low social acceptance.Finally,the prospect is predicted,and several suggestions are made specifically.First,tackle key problems to form a CCUS/CCS technological system with the unique features of gas field,and establish an original technology and policy source base for gas field CCUS/CCS.Second,formulate a gas field CCUS/CCS standard system,and promote the application of CO2 EGR(CCUS-EGR)and CO2 storage technologies.Third,further extend and expand the traditional oil and gas business industry chain by making full use of the carbon capture,transportation,flooding and storage technologies of PetroChina Southwest Oil&Gasfield Company,so as to establish a CCUS/CCS industry cluster and carbon pool in southwestern China,aiding PetroChina to take the leading place in the CCUS/CCS industry chain.Fourth,explore the technologies of injecting CO2 and mixed gas to enhance the recovery factor of shale gas to usher in a new CCUS direction in the field of shale gas.
