Prediction of friction coefficient of pure hydrogen and hydrogen-blending natural gas pipeline
Pure hydrogen or hydrogen-blending natural gas pipeline is one of the best means to realize long-distance and large-scale hydrogen transportation.Friction coefficient is a key parameter in the hydraulic calculation of gas pipeline, but the existing empirical formula fails to meet the requirement of friction coefficient prediction of hydrogen-blending natural gas.In order to improve the applicability of the traditional formula for calculationg friction coefficient in the pure hydrogen and hydrogen-blending natural gas pipeline system, this paper establishes a comprehensive experimental platform for pressure regulation of pure hydrogen and hydrogen-blending natural gas pipeline, and conducts flow experiments of pure hydrogen and different proportions of hydrogen-blending natural gas pipeline transport. Then, the friction coefficient of line pipes is calculated based on the parameters acquired in the experiments, such as flow rate, temperature, pressure, pipeline length and pipe diameter. In addition, the relationships between friction coefficient and Reynolds number and roughness are established, and the traditional friction coefficient formula is modified. Finally,it is verified by using the actual operation data of Baling-Changling pure hydrogen pipeline(Hunan Province). And the following research results are obtained.First, the large difference in physical properties between hydrogen and natural gas results in an effect of the hydrogen blending ratio on flow friction coefficient.Under the same conditions, the larger the hydrogen blending ratio is,the smaller the friction coefficient.Second, the traditional friction coefficient calculation formula has an error of about 30%.The innovatively proposed three-section friction coefficient empirical formula suitable for pure hydrogen and hydrogen-blending natural gas can reduce the error effectively, with the maximum relative error of 11.84%.Third,compared with the actual operation data of Baling-Changling pure hydrogen pipeline, the average error of the modified friction coefficient prediction formula is 0.62%,indicating that this formula can meet the error requirements of actual engineering. In conclusion, the modified friction coefficient formula for pure hydrogen and hydrogen-blending natural gas pipeline is applicable to the design of pure hydrogen and hydrogen blending natural gas pipeline engineering, and it has an important engineering application value and prospect.
