SYNTHESIS AND ELECTRO CATALYTIC ACTIVITY OF MWCNT/Fe-Co/ PANI
A novel ternary composite of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) with iron cobalt nanoparticles and polyaniline(PANI)was obtained by means of chemical suspension polymerization method. MWCNTs were used as carrier, while the target product (MWCNT/Fe-Co/PANI) was aimed to be used in counter electrode of dye-sensitised cells(DSSC). Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to analyze the morphologies and microstructure of product. The results show that MWCNT/Fe-Co/PANI composite possesses special microporous net structure. Iron cobalt alloy nanoparticles are loaded on MWCNTs matrix, polyaniline grafts onto the surface of MWCNTs. To evaluate catalytic activity for I37 I~, the cyclic voltammogram of the sample was investigated in a three-electrode system. The results indicate that the composite material has excellent electrochemical catalytic effect. Thi9 is presumably due to the net structure promoting the adsorption of electrolyte ion as well as iron cobalt alloy nanoparticles enhancing the catalytic effect of composite. With suitable structure and performance, the MWCNT/Fe-Co/PANI composite is an alternative for replacing precious platinum in counter electrode of DSSC.
