Study on the Mechanism of Spatial Olfactory Influence on Learning and Reading Behavior of Academic Library Users
The interrelation between the human sense of olfaction and cognitive, emotional, and behavioral performance is well established. Thus, the study on the influence mechanism of library spatial olfactory has practical significance for the upgrading of library user experience and space design. This study used eye-tracking,skin electrophysiological signal feedback and one-way ANOVA to quantify the learning performance and reading psychological experience of academic library users in different spatial olfactory environments, and to explore the mechanism of spatial olfactory environment on users'learning and reading behavior. It was found that the experimental environment with spatial olfactory design was more effective in improving participants'learning performance than the experimental environment without spatial olfaction, and the effect of different types of spatial olfaction on participants'learning performance was different.Accordingly, this study proposes a conceptual model of spatial olfactory influence on users'learning and reading behaviors in academic libraries, and proposes ideas for future academic libraries'olfactory space design.
