Research on Health Information Services of Japanese Public Libraries for Disadvantaged Groups
Through the network research,information consultation and document analysis,an analysis was conducted on the health information services for disadvantaged groups provided by 47 county-level public libraries in Japan.The investigation found that the service content includes building diversified health information resources,carrying out a full range of health service activities,and providing targeted health information services.The key service targets are cancer patients,dementia groups,people with disabilities and pregnant women.Service features include:promoting the implementation of health services for disadvantaged groups from top to bottom,actively organizing health information resources suitable for readers'needs,focusing on improving the health information service capabilities of librarians for disadvantaged groups,and in-depth cross-institutional cooperation to promote health information sharing.Based on this,health information services for disadvantaged groups in public libraries in China should establish service awareness and optimize the health service system environment;develop distinctive resources and create a personalized and refined collection system;provide diverse services to meet multiple health needs of users;cultivate professional librarians and innovate the content of health information services.
