A Study on the Competency Requirements and Transformation Directions for Technical Librarians in University Libraries
With the development of smart libraries,the job responsibilities of library technology positions have also undergone a transformation.The article takes 41 public undergraduate universities in Jiangsu as samples,analyzes the establishment of their relevant technical departments and the specific job responsibilities,elaborates on four types of technical librarians-technical support,subject service,development research,and cultural dissemination,and summarizes four core competency requirements based on the research results,with data capability as the core.At the same time,transformation strategies are proposed from three dimensions:librarians themselves,library management,and platform architecture organization,in order to provide reference for the career development of library technical librarians and the construction of the library talent system.
