Study on the Evolution of Intelligent Information Research Paradigms:Retrospect,Reflection and Prospect
With the increasing importance of human-centered AI,researchers have paid more intention to intelligent information retrieval(IR).This paper makes a survey of current researches on intelligent IR,focusing on the evolution of intelligent IR research paradigm,and revealing its evolution course.By means of the thematic analysis method,and based on 183 intelligent IR papers,the research paradigms and topics are summarized.The result indicates that there are three paradigms of intelligent IR,i.e.,the technology-centered paradigm,the technology&user-centered paradigm and the human-centered paradigm.The technology-centered paradigm focuses on the optimization of corpus,semantic analysis,information classification,and result ranking,so as to improve the retrieval accuracy.The technology&user-centered paradigm focuses on meeting the needs of users by optimizing personalized retrieval,information security,multimodal retrieval and other technologies.The human-centered paradigm mainly explores the interaction between human and system,the design of human-centered system,and the ethics of technology.Based on such an analysis,it further discusses the future development of intelligent IR.It points out that the technology-centered paradigm needs to break through the limitation of traditional IR technology research objectives,avoid the application risk of AI technology,and innovate technology.The technology&user paradigm should advance to intelligent interactive IR,so as to realize the deep integration of user demand and technology development.The human-centered paradigm should focus on user experience and technological ethics,and work to realize the practice of human-centered intelligent IR.
