A Meta-Analysis of Factors Influencing mHealth Acceptance of the Elderly
Advances in information and communication technology have facilitated the implementation of mHealth, but the usage rate of mHealth services among the elderly population is significantly low.In view of the inconsistent results between empirical studies on the factors influencing the intention to use mHealth among elderly users, this paper comprehensively reviews and re-analyzes the relevant literature.Based on 30 pieces of empirical research literature related to the intention to use mHealth in the last decade,it conducts a meta-analysis using CMA software to test for heterogeneity in the relationship of variables, publication bias in literature and to calculate the combined effect size of each variable relationship, followed by a subgroup analysis with the level of national or regional economic development as the adjusting variable. This study shows that the behavioral intention of older users to use mHealth is usually directly affected by seven factors:effort expectation, performance expectation, attitude, value price, perceived trust, convenience and social influence.Among them, technical anxiety is highly negatively related to effort expectation, effort expectation positively influences performance expectation, and performance expectation significantly affects older users'attitude towards using mHealth. In addition, the level of economic development significantly regulates the relationship between relevant variables.
