Risks to Library Services in the Context of Digital Transformation
In the context of digital transformation, library services face multiple risks in terms of costs, benefits, and substitution.Currently, relevant studies are fragmented and lack observation and analysis of systemic and holistic risks.Using the method of grounded theory, this article explores the risk elements of library services and their interactions based on relevant academic papers and 13 risk scenarios. It identifies seven categories of risk for library services, namely the cost risk, legal risk, technology risk, quality risk, utility risk, substitution risk, and value-based risk, which are characterized by a progressive cyclical evolution. In order to improve the level of library services in China,a dynamic risk assessment and monitoring mechanism should be established to scientifically predict the development trend of risks;promote the collaborative management of library service risks to enhance the efficiency of risk regulation;and establish risk rules and regulations based on the characteristics of the role of risks so as to avoid the risk of cyclic evolution.
