Digital Future of East Asian Civilization——A Systematic Review of the International Conference on Digital Humanities with the Theme of"Tools of the Trade:the Way Forward"at Harvard University in 2023
At a time when digital media and computing technologies are having a profound impact on research tools and paradigms in the humanities,digital humanities(DH)communities working on East Asian humanities materials and relevant supporting institutions such as libraries are faced with paradigm renewal and structural transformation.The International Conference on Digital Humanities,held at Harvard University,USA,on 14-16 March 2023,with the theme of"Tools of the Trade:the Way Forward",has discussed the recent progress and future directions of DH research on East Asia under the influence of technological and media changes,as well as the value and impact of digital tools for humanistic studies,and the development strategies for libraries and related institutions.This article reviews the two themes shared by the speakers at the conference:'Cultural Inheritance with East Asia DH Tools'and'The Development Strategy of Libraries towards DH Research under Technology Innovation',and analyzes the latest trends and prospects of East Asia DH research in terms of tool building and institutional support.
