In order to grasp the status quo of knowledge organization courses in the field of library and information science at home and abroad in the era of big data,innovate the curriculum,improve the quality of talent training,and provide suggestions for the construction of knowledge organization course system in the field of library and information science in China,the article investigates the situation of knowledge organization courses in 62 departments of library and information science at home and abroad from the perspectives of course classification,teaching objects,course types,credit settings,teaching objectives,course contents,and teaching methods through literature analysis,network survey,content analysis and other methods.It is found that the knowledge organization courses at home and abroad present the following characteristics:the total number of courses is large,but there is a big difference in the number of different types of courses;the targets and types of courses are clear,but the focuses are different;the teaching objectives are clear,and the contents of the traditional courses are predominant;and the teaching methods focus on the combination of theory and practice,and are more diverse.Combined with the characteristics,it puts forward the following four suggestions for domestic curriculum construction:balancing the number of various types of courses to cultivate diversified talents;optimizing the curriculum to provide personalized training;the teaching objectives and course contents should be student-centered;and providing diversified teaching methods to strengthen the teaching effect.
