The strategic planning of the library is a long-term development route and action strategy formulated by the library on the basis of a deep analysis of the internal and external situation,which is a reference guide for the library's decision-making and action,and can reflect the reform measures and development trends of the library.This paper collected strategic plan texts from 18 American university libraries.Using KH coder as the text analysis tool,this research conducted word frequency statistics and co-occurrence network analysis methods to explore the important themes and analyze strategic priorities of the strategic plan.Based on the co-occurrence network analysis of important themes,the research categorized the initiatives of the strategic plan and conducted a correspondence analysis of these initiatives.The study finds that the strategic planning of American university libraries focuses on supporting digital scholarship,fostering student growth,enhancing accessibility of collection resources,and improving the impact of university libraries,etc.Combined with the contents of the strategic plan,the study suggests that key initiatives of its strategic plan include offering lifecycle services for academic research,developing critical information literacy education,promoting digital and physical collections,and strengthening internal and external cooperation,etc.Finally,the study proposes some thoughts on strategic planning for university libraries in China.
