The purpose of this study is to propose an optimization path for public library social spaces that is guided by user needs,aiming to enhance the service level and user satisfaction of public library social spaces.To achieve this,the study incorporates embodied cognition theory and environmental behavior theory into the exploration of library space.It identifies 18 indicators of public library social space needs and employs the Kano model for questionnaire design and survey.Additionally,it employs the Better-Worse coefficient to construct a user satisfaction matrix,identifies and optimizes the Kano attributes of demand indicators.Furthermore,with the help of eye tracking experiment,it use eye tracking data and its analysis results to validate participants'satisfaction evaluation of library social space demand indicators.The study found that readers have a high degree of concern about demand indicators such as dynamic and static space division,diversified learning spaces,resource acquisition equipment,self-service equipment,dining areas,and facility updating in the library.By prioritizing the transformation of these essential needs,combined with promoting the improvement of expected and attractive needs,and paying attention to the long-term development of indifferent needs,public libraries will achieve effective optimization of social spaces.
