The 8th National Symposium on Fundamental Theories of Library Science was held at Hebei University,focusing on the theme"Contemporary Library Science Theory and Approaches."After reviewing the basic concepts,research history,and current state of meta-theories,the attendees analyzed several meta-theoretical issues from four aspects:the research objects of library science,the boundaries of library science research,the differentiation of basic concepts in library science,and the methods for constructing fundamental theories of library science.Based on the content of the attendees'speeches,the paper evaluates the conference presentations and related viewpoints,analyzes and compares the research status of meta-theory in the fundamental theory of library science from the perspective of meta-theory research,and puts forward the research direction for the development and reshaping of the fundamental theory of library science.
