India possesses abundant manuscript resources,bearing profound imprints of knowledge,history,culture,and emotions,which are the truly luminous gems in the crown of world cultural heritage.To better protect,transmit,and utilize these invaluable treasures,India has undertaken numerous manuscript digitization projects.This paper takes the National Mission For Manuscripts(NMM),a concerted nationwide effort,as an example.Employing a case study methodology,this paper interprets the distinctive features of manuscript digitization of the project,focusing on the establishment of manuscript regional centers and the formulation of a unified digitization standard.This paper further uncovers the project's experiences in utilizing digitized manuscripts for purposes such as children's courses,youth debates,and expert lectures.Based on these findings,this paper recommends that China should initiate a national manuscript endeavor,which involves undertaking comprehensive nationwide manuscript work,establishing a unified standard for digitization,encouraging broad public participation,and innovating diverse channels for promotion.Through these endeavors,China can effectively digitize and utilize its precious Chinese manuscripts,ensuring the enduring transmission and flourishing development of Chinese culture.
