Carbon for the future——A review of the World Conference on Carbon 2024
The World Conference on Carbon(Carbon 2024)was held in Shenzhen,China,from 14 to 19 July,2024.This conference was hosted jointly by Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology,Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School,and Institute of Metal Research,Chinese Academy of Sciences,and was organized by Shenzhen Science Technology and Innovation Commission.The conference,themed"Carbon for the Future,"featured eight topic sessions:1.Nano carbons:graphene,graphdiyne,CNTs and fullerenes;2.Graphite,diamond,porous carbon,coal,coke,etc.;3.Carbon fiber and their composites;4.Carbon for energy storage and conversion;5.Carbon for environment;6.Carbon for biology,health,and medicine;7.Carbon for electronics and optoelectronics and 8.Carbon 2024 Emerging Young Scientist Symposium.Over 400 abstracts from 27 countries/regions were accepted,including 5 plenary lectures,50 keynote lectures,164 oral presentations,and over 200 posters.This event covered the latest advancements from traditional carbon materials to new carbon technologies.Carbon materials for energy storage and traditional carbon materials have been widely con-cerned in this conference.Carbon nanotubes and other low-dimensional carbon materials offer new solutions for constructing high-per-formance and multifunctional devices in the post-Moore era,while advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence have al-so injected new vitality into carbon materials research.
