Application of isotropic coke in graphite anode material for lithium ion batteries
The structures of raw cokes directly determine the structural characteristics of artificial graphite anode materials,and affect the rate and cycle performance.The artificial graphite anode materials with different orientation structure coke were prepared.And the intrinsic relationship among coke structure,artificial graphite characters and electrochemical performance were explored.The results show that isotropic coke has obvious isotropic orientation structure,and the pitch coke has little isotropic orientation structure.The artifi-cial graphite prepared from isotropic coke shows the orientation index of 4.34,which is lower than that of the artificial graphite from pitch coke,and exhibitsimproved electrochemical performance.The DC internal resistance is reduced by 5 mΩ,and the rate performance is increases by 2.2% .After 1 000 cycles at room temperature,the capacity retention rate increases by 2.6%,so the graphite with high isotropy and smooth surface shows excellent rate and cycle stability.
