Abstract
Based on the political & military structure of Lingnan during middle-late Tang Dynasty and previous studies and focused on Yu Mengwei's The Record of Rebuilding Ling Canal of Guizhou,this paper analyzes the background,process and sluice gate technology of Ling Canal dredging by Li Bo and Yu Mengwei as well as discusses the relationship between Ling Canal and military transportation network in Lingnan during the late Tang Dynasty.In this paper,it can be seen that Li Bo may have transplanted the sluice gate technology of South Lake dike construction in Jiang Zhou to Ling Canal,which ensured the grain transportation in Lingnan at certain period and laid the technical foundation of Ling Canal.Therefore,on the perspective of inland military transportation and logistic support function of Guizhou during the late Tang Dynasty,we can deeply understand the words of The New Tang History Book(《新唐书》):"The Tang Dynasty fell by Huangchao,but it rooted on Guizhou."
