Abstract
Although there are few and incomplete excavated house leasing contracts in Turpan,some rules of local house leasing activities could be found.Further discussion is needed on the relevant leasing contracts from Gaochang to Xizhou period,the rent of houses in Turpan area was constantly rising.In the midland of the Tang Dynasty,the rent was usually paid monthly,while in Turpan,the rent was usually paid in installments,settling several months'rent at one time.In addition,the house leasing contracts'format in the midland might be different from the western regions.
