Abstract
It is generally believed that the Chinese Hetuvidyā declined along with the decline of the Faxiang Zong(法相宗),but Hetuvidyā still developed in the Five Dynasties after inherited the Hetuvidyā in the Tang Dynasty.Yanhui,Kezhi and Jilun were all monks specializing in Hetuvidyā at that time.Even Jilun wrote Yan Mi Chao(《演密钞》,seven volumes).Taiyuan,Huazhou,Kaifeng and other places in the Five Dynasties were the central areas of the dissemination of Hetuvidyā.However, compared with the Tang Dynasty, there was no necessary connection between Hetuvidyā and the Theory of Consciousness-only School(唯识学)in the Five Dynasties, and Nyāya-praveśa became one of the independent popular Buddhism Texts at that time, which reflected the gradual losing of sectarianism of the northern Buddhism after the impact of Buddhism Disaster of Huichang("会昌法难")and the war in the late Tang and Five Dynasties.
