Abstract
It is generally believed that Du Guangting is t he representative of three religions in the unity of the representative thought in the late Tang Dynasty.In fact,Du Guangting's spiritual world always presents significant features that inhibit the promotion of Buddhism and Taoism.In terms of Buddhism and spread Taoism fighting,Du Guangting propagated that the immortal is strong and the Buddha is weak by comparing figures,spells and objects.In view of the competition for wealth between Buddhism and Taoism,Du Guangting promoted the victory of immortals over Buddhas through the competition of palace temples,bronze bells and classics.In view of the Buddha's entry into the Tao,Du Guangting highlighted the high and low of the Tao by renunciation of the Tao,the conversion of monks to the Tao,and the transformation of Buddha into the immortal.In order to worship Buddhism and oppose Taoism,Du Guangting showed the superior Buddha and the inferior Buddha through Buddha's ignorance of immortals,ferocious monk's nature and ugly monk's appearance.In short,based on the Taoist tradition of Lao Zi transforming Hu,Du Guangting believed that Taoism was far superior to Buddhism and rarely absorbed Buddhist ideas.
