Abstract
Li Yi is the sixth generation grandchild of Big Zheng King named Li Liang,which had been awarded by the Tang emperor.He is a remote branch of imperial clan in the Tang Dynasty.This paper discusses the origin document of Li Yi's epitaph,his life and official career,imperial lineage of Li Yi and his wife,marriage and family etc.The texts of Li Yi's ancestor,Li Shenfu and Li Wenjian,which are from the epitaph of Li Yi,are similar to their biographies from Old History of the Tang Dynasty(《旧唐书》)and New History of the Tang Dynasty(《新唐书》).Therefore,their original document are t he same,all of them are from the XingZhuang(行状),which amounts to personnel files of official in the Tang Dynasty.Li Yi's wife with the surname Yuan who is the descendant of the imperial clan of the Northern Wei Dynasty.They have well-matched in social and economic status for marriage,and the family is harmonious.Li Yi is a well-behaved person,who makes an ordinary contribution to the Tang Dynasty in his life.He works among the county towns and prefectures as an official during his career mostly,promoting and moving between the head of a county and prefecture governor outside the central government.His highest official position is Zezhou governor(the vice third-rank official).His death is closely related to the"Fengtian Crisis",appeared at the reign of the Emperor Dezong.
