Abstract
Both Zhang Shaoti,who lived in the Tang Dynasty and his calligraphy were unknown in historical records of that period.However,according to inscription since the Song Dynasty,there were as many as eleven kinds of epitaph written by him.It was really delightful that his red-ink for stone works,the Epitaph of Qu Yuanshou,the Epitaph of GanLishi and the stele of Gao Lishi were unearthed in the twentieth century.Recently,his another calligraphic works,the Epitaph of Princess Wang of Liang State was excavated.During the reign of Emperor Daizong in the Tang Dynasty,Zhang Shaoti could be seen as a significant calligrapher who was skilled in regular script and famous for running hand.Zhang Shaoti's running hand owned its characteristics by following the style of Wang Xizhi,Wang Xianzhi as well as remaining unique creativity.So,it was highly praised by famous epigraphers such as Zhao Han in the Ming Dynasty and Ye Changchi in the Qing Dynasty.
