Research on the Mentorship Collaboration Patterns from the Dual Perspectives of Co-authorship Relation-ships and Research Themes
[Purpose/Significance]Mentoring relationship generally exists among researchers, analyzing the mentorship collaboration patterns of researcher holds significant importance in gaining a deeper understanding of the characteristics and patterns of research collaboration between researchers and their mentors.[Methods/Process]Based on the co-authorship relationships and research themes of the academic publications,a conceptual model and identification method for mentorship collaboration patterns of researcher were proposed. From the perspective of co-authorship relationships, mentorship collaboration patterns were classified into four types, that is,guiding growth supportive development collaborative freedom and independent paths. When considering research themes, these patterns were categorized into three types, that is,heritage and continuation, collaborative development and independent exploration. Then, this study focused on doctors in the field of information science and investigated the characteristics of the mentorship collaboration patterns among researchers from a dual perspective.[Result/Conclu-sion]The study reveals that throughout a doctoral candidate's academic career, mentorship collaboration pattems, regardless of the research perspective considered, undergo continuous changes and exhibit a variety of evolution-ary paths and patterns.Furthermore,it finds that mentors'implicit influence on the doctoral candidates'academic growth based on the research content aspect significantly outweighs the explicit influence based on co-authorship of articles. On the other hand, doctoral candidates exhibit a stronger inheritance of themes from their mentors in the context of research topics. This study enriches the methodological framework for investigating mentorship collabo-ration patterns among researchers, providing crucial reference value for future relevant research endeavors.
