Application and Reflection of Case Study Method in the Field of Library and Information Science
[Purpose/Significance]The case study is an important method of the methodology system in social sciences,which plays an important role in exploring and explaining phenomena,constructing new theories,and test-ing existing theories.[Method/Process]In order to explore the application of case study in the field of library and information science at home and abroad,the study used descriptive statistical analysis methods,keyword clustering,and text analysis,sorted out 299 Chinese and English articals using case study methods since 2018,and analyzed their current situation and problems.[Result/Conclusion]The research summarizes and analyzes the distribution,subject,and application standardization of case studies in the field of library and information science.It discovers the differences in the writing structure of"models/algorithms+example verification"both domestically and inter-nationally,and summarizes the characteristics and shortcomings of the research in methodology elaboration,case selection,data collection,and reliability and validity testing.It takes three literatures as examples to demonstrate its specific application to provide reference for future research.In addition,it compares the case study method in li-brary and information science with that in business management and public administration to extend its application.
