Configuration Analysis of Influencing Factors of the Public Satisfaction with Government Epidemic Infor-mation Disclosure in the Context of Public Health Emergencies
[Purpose/Significance]Taking the COVID-19 as an example, this paper explores the factors in-fluencing public satisfaction with government information disclosure during different stages of public health emer-gencies,and analyzes their configuration causes and path patterns to improve the government's ability to accurately respond to emergent crises.[Method/Process]Based on the information ecology theory, this article took a literature review to identify eight influencing factors from three dimensions:informants, information and environment. These factors, including information disclosure and dissemination behaviors, and public information needs, etc.,formed the theoretical framework.Based on it,a questionnaire was designed and 260 valid questionnaires were collect-ed.Fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis(fsQCA)was employed to conduct a configurational analysis of the data.[Result/Conclusion]This study identifies four, two, and three path patterns leading to high public satisfaction during the epidemic outbreak, peak, and normalization periods, respectively. These path patterns are closely related to the characteristics of the epidemic at each stage.Specifically, regulating the public emotion is crucial during the outbreak, fulfilling the public's strong demand for reliable information is the key during the peak, and enhancing the public's high-level experience becomes essential during the normalization period to foster the public's openness and satisfaction. From a configurational perspective, this paper reveals the multiple concurrent relationships among factors influencing information disclosure satisfaction at different stages of the epidemic and the key to improve the satisfaction. These findings offer valuable insights for optimizing the resource allocation of information disclosure during public health emergencies in China, improving the government's ability to respond to crises, and refining the crisis management system.
