Awareness Characteristics,Willingness to Use and Main Demands of Humanities and Social Science Journals Editors Towards Preprint Platforms
[Purpose/Significance]Strengthening the participation of humanities and social sciences journals in the co-construction and sharing of preprint platforms helps promote knowledge production in all disciplines of philosophy and social sciences and enhance the academic voice of Chinese philosophy and social sciences.[Method/Process]A survey was conducted by Information Center for Social Science of Renmin University of China,target-ing editors of humanities and social science journals to understand their awareness, willingness to use,and main demands for preprint platforms.[Result/Conclusion]The survey finds that Chinese humanities and social sciences journal editors highly recognize the academic value of preprints, but their awareness of preprint platforms is gener-ally vague, with significant differences in different types and fields of journals. The willingness of journal editors to use preprint platforms is strong and characterized by specific features. The reason why they do not accept preprint submissions is because of the oversupply of papers, high plagiarism risks, and unguaranteed quality. The key to citing preprints lies in their authority and quality. The main demands of journal editors for preprint platforms are to strengthen identity verification and academic ethics review, solve copyright and plagiarism issues, and improve copyright policies and norms. Therefore,it suggests that China should focus on improving the awareness and under-standing of humanities and social sciences journal editors about preprints, optimize the negative impact factors of preprint platforms on journals, specifically enhance the willingness of journal editors to use preprint platforms, and build a multi-level preprint policy system beneficial to journal editors.
