The Generation of Novel Themes and Novel Structures from the Perspective of Modern Self-organization Theory
The theme of the work includes two aspects:the intention and the theme. The intention refers to the author's"original intention",and the theme is the main idea and meaning contained in the work.Al-though the concept of intention is important, the mechanism for generating the structure of intention is still lacking.Novels are a multi-level control system, and the numerous elements of a novel text can be roughly divided into four different levels from the inside out.The innermost layer is the intention layer:the author's intention;Next is the character layer:characters, character relationships, and character systems;Once again, there is the plot layer:story, plot, and plot direction; The outermost layer is the language layer:language and its relationship.Generally speaking, the four levels are dominated by each other from the inside out.The self-organization theory of modern complexity science believes that there are self-organizing phenomena in life systems, social systems, and inanimate systems. The structure and theme of great works transcend the writer's intention and conception, mainly due to the culture learned by the writer and the self-organizing phe-nomenon of novel characters and other elements.
