On the Exegesis Characteristics of Jiang Ji's Annotations to Chu Ci in Shandai Ge:Nine Chapters
Jiang Ji was one of the three great scholars of Chu Ci in the Qing Dynasty. His annotations and in-terpretations were based on the idea of respecting QuYuan, which not only had the academic characteristics of Qing Dynasty's simple learning, but also had a literary consciousness that resonated with Qu Yuan's spirit.Jiang Ji's Annotations to Chu Ci in Shandai Ge:Nine Chapters presents different characteristics from his pre-decessors in terms of interpretation and textual research.Firstly,it not only inherits the annotations of previ-ous scholars, but also extensively cites the original text of Qu Yuan's interpretation and refutes the original interpretation ideas;secondly,is to integrate the annotation concept of ancient people's destiny through the entire book, which can determine the time and place of the work based on geography, after examining the original author's involvement in the calendar;Thirdly, there are both semantic and phonetic explanations in the method of interpretation, and it can use imagery to express words, distinguish the appearance of objects, and often use exegesis to express allegory.Overall,Jiang Ji's annotations on poetry not only restored the original appearance of Qu Yuan's works, but also highlighted the aesthetic connotation of Chu Ci as a liter-ary work.To a certain extent,it liberated Chu Ci from the interpretive methods of annotating poetry based on scriptures throughout history. This has had a profound impact on the research of Chu Ci and Nine Chapters.
