A Tentative Discussion on the New Changes of the Prefaces and Postscripts of Popular Novels in the Late Ming Dynasty
The prefaces and postscripts of popular novels in the late Ming Dynasty are different from those in other periods of the Ming Dynasty. They not only well reflect the characteristics of the drastic social changes in the late Ming Dynasty, but also achieve their own new changes. The new changes are mainly re-flected in the following four aspects:the change of the identity of the authors of the prefaces and postscripts;the concept of realism in novel creation reflected in the prefaces and postscripts;the timely reflection of the current political situation in the prefaces and postscripts;the emergence of the question-and-answer style be-tween the host and the guest in the prefaces and postscripts.Taking the prefaces and postscripts of popular novels in the late Ming Dynasty as the research object and discussing the specific manifestations of their new changes is helpful to understand the development of the preface and postscript style itself and the interaction between the social environment and literature.
