National Empowerment,Social Shaping,Self-Recognition:A Tripartite Examination of the Identity Construction of Rural Doctors
Rural doctors, who provide medical and health services in village clinics, constitute a unique social group at the grassroots level. They possess multiple identities as doctors, farmers, and parttime medical practitio-ners,and their professional identity as doctors faces challenges such as vague national positioning, public scrutiny, and personal self-doubt.To resolve the identity dilemma of rural doctors and construct their professional identity,it is necessary for the state, society, and the rural doctors themselves to work together. The state should confirm the identity of rural doctors through legal and institutional norms and gradually incorporate them into the official man-agement system as a form of national empowerment.News media, artists, social science researchers,People's Con-gress representatives, and members of the Political Consultative Conference, along with other social organizations and individuals, should leverage their professional advantages and expertise to jointly shape the identity of rural doc-tors.Rural doctors themselves must utilize self-recognition as an intrinsic motivation to actively and proactively re-shape their professional identity.
