Research on the Correlation between TOP Factor and Citation Index in Academic Journals under the Background of Open Science
Under the open science environment, whether the TOP factor of academic journals can be used as a supple-mentary index to evaluate journals needs to provide a certain theoretical basis.Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were used to analyze the means and distribution of TOP factors of 1797 journals evaluated by Open Science Center,as well as the correlation with impact factors and citations of these journals. The vast majority of journals only implemented a single level 1 TOP standard, and the journal's impact factor and the total citations were significantly positively correlated with the total score of TOP factor. In each dimension of the TOP factor, the impact factor and total citations of all journals are significantly positively correlated with data citations, material transparency, analysis code transparency and design analysis report guidelines.TOP factor can be a supplementary index to evaluate journals. The open science process of journals varies in different disciplines.Chinese journals should also refer to the dimensions of TOP factor to set up the requirements of open science.
