Beyond Borders:The Emergence of Transnational Library History Research
Transnational library history research,as an emerging field of study,is gradually capturing the interest and attention of library scholars worldwide. This field not only challenges the narrative constraints of traditional library history writing centered around single nation-states but also enriches the themes explored in conventional library history research.Transnational library history research can endeavor to pioneer investigations into five major themes:the impact of global knowledge and cultural movements on the historical evolution of libraries, the historical role of international organizations in library development, the transnational circulation of books and other literary materials, the status of librarians and scholars within transnational networks, and the analysis of colonialism's influence on library development processes. As an emerging interdisciplinary research domain, transnational library history research holds significant academic significance and boasts promising prospects for development.
