Explore More Possibilities:A Comparative Study of Bibliography Recommendation Services Between Chinese and American Public Libraries
Bibliography recommendation service is an important means for public libraries to further promote the national reading,as well as an effective way to provide more substantial and high-quality public cultural services for the people.This article employs various methods,such as online surveys,content analysis,and inductive deduction,to select 46 public libraries in China and the United States as the research subjects.Based on the theory of bibliodiversity,the article conducts comparative analysis of bibliography recommendation services in various dimensions,including brand building,themes,target audience,carriers,web page layout,and personalized bibliography recommendation services,and summarizes their developmental patterns,experiences,and insights.The study found that in order to achieve supply-demand balance,the American public library industry adheres to the principles of openness,brand orientation,group inclusiveness,and people-oriented,and fully develops the diversity of bibliography recommendation services.In response to the national strategy of deepening nationwide reading,public libraries in China should cultivate awareness of bibliodiversity,improve the book recommendation system,and promote the inclusive and professional development of book recommendation services to meet users'broader and more diverse reading needs.
