Characteristics of atmospheric amine distribution and source over the Southern Ocean
The composition and distribution of atmospheric aerosols and gaseous organic amines over the Southern Ocean and the Antarctic near-shore area were investigated for the first time during the 36Th CHINARE by online ob-servation and their source characteristics were analyzed. Results show that gaseous trimethylamine and dimethyl-amine are the main forms of organic amines in the Southern Ocean, with mean values of(104.0±285.2)and(3.5 ±6.0)ng/m3,respectively.The concentrations of organic amines in the Antarctic near-shore area are significantly higher than the average oceanic concentrations, for example, the mean values of gaseous trimethylamine and dime-thylamine over Prydz Bay reach(289.0±396.6)and(5.6±16.1)ng/m3,respectively.Gaseous trimethylamine, dimethylamine and ammonia over the Southern Ocean showed good linearity in different regions, indicating their ho-mology.From the source analysis, the atmospheric organic amines over the Southern Ocean are mainly influenced by marine biological activities, but in the sea ice edge area and the Antarctic near-shore area, animal activities such as penguin emissions can lead to a significant increase in the concentration of organic amines in the atmos-phere.
