On the Situation,Tasks,and Approaches of Taiwan Public Opinion Research in the New Era of China
The international and domestic situation in the new era of China,along with the new changes it brings,presents new tasks and requirements for the research community involved in Taiwan-related studies.The new situation mainly includes:the completion of national reunification and the realization of great national rejuvenation;the United States efforts to contain China and obstruct cross-Straits reunification;the regression of the island's political situation and the urgent need to strengthen the social foundation of reunification;the DPP administration efforts to build barriers against unification and block cross-Straits interaction and communication.The new tasks mainly include:to explore how to win the hearts of the people in Taiwan region and jointly promote the great cause of national reunification;to explore how to gain people's support on the island and jointly oppose"Taiwan independence",etc.While the mainland's Taiwan-related research community has achieved remarkable results in Taiwan Public Opinion Research,there are also some shortcomings.The new era of China poses ten new requirements for Taiwan-related research community,including strengthening basic theoretical research,conducting in-depth essential research,and carrying out appropriate investigation and research.
