Going to Taiwan to Restore Power:Sun Yunxuan and Taiwan's Electric Power Industry in the Early Period of Taiwan's Retrocession
At the time of Taiwan's retrocession,the island's electricity infrastructure suffered heavy losses due to war and natural disasters.After several years of development,Taiwan rapidly became the province with the most abundant electricity supply and the lowest electricity prices in China.Reviewing the process of Taiwan's power receiving and recovery,we can see the important role played by mainland electric power personnel who went to Taiwan,among whom Sun Yunxuan was the most pivotal.With the concerted efforts of Sun Yunxuan and his colleagues at the Taiwan Power Company,Taiwan's power supply in the early period of Taiwan's retrocession could generally meet the island's needs,facilitating the revival of Taiwan's industry and the protection of people's livelihoods.The Chinese mainland's technical experts,represented by Sun Yunxuan,actively participated receiving and building Taiwan after the victory of the war of resistance against Japan.They also made important contributions to the rapid economic development of Taiwan in the second half of the 20th century.
