Exploring the role of social media in the adaptation, integration, and identification of Taiwan's youth in the Chinese mainland is of great significance for promoting the motherland identification of Taiwan's youth in the mainland and promoting cross-Straits integration and development. As this study reveals, with the help of social media,Taiwan's youth in the mainland have experienced a gradual process of adaptation, integration, and identification.Firstly,Taiwan's youth in the mainland can make full use of social media to construct a social network that adapts and integrates into the mainland environment, reduce communication costs in daily situations, avoid the negative effects caused by information asymmetry, and lay a good foundation for integration and identification with the mainland society.Secondly,Taiwan's youth in the mainland face information and cognitive conflicts in the use of cross-Straits social media. However, they can take the initiative to adjust and gradually establish an identification with the mainland. Finally,as Taiwan's youth deepen their contact and understanding of the mainland, they actively spread their emotional identification with the mainland in the self-presentation and interaction on social media, which builds a bridge for cross-Straits communication and effectively promotes the integration and development of cross-Straits youth.
