The Procedural Issue in Reviewing the "Sino-US Treaty of Friendship,Commerce and Navigation"
The Treaty Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs once reviewed the old treaties signed by the Kuomintang government in accordance with Article 55 of The Common Program of The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. However, the results of the review were not officially announced, leading the International Court of Justice and the US government to believe that the"Sino-US Treaty of Friendship,Commerce and Navigation"remains in effect. It is necessary for China to promptly and publicly announce the review process of the treaty, declare it invalid, and inform the International Court of Justice of the results. This would urge the court to apply the 1971 United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758,accept China's review results, and change its stance on the"Sino-US Friendship,Commerce, and Navigation Treaty".
