Reunification and the Left:The Historical Logic and Practical Pathway of National Reunification—Lin Shuyang's Marxist Approach to Exploring the Taiwan Question and Its Implications
Using Marxist perspectives, viewpoints, and methods,Lin Shuyang combined the basic principles of Marxism with the realities across the Taiwan Strait to explore the issue of national reunification.Based on the principles of dialectical materialism that material conditions determine consciousness and the principles of historical materialism that productive forces determine production relations,Lin deeply reflected on the causes of nation formation, the historical process of national division and unity, and the phenomenon of national self-determination in modern times. He argued for the foundation for national unification within the logic of historical development.Using Leninism as the main ideological tool,he discussed issues such as old and new colonialism, separatism, national liberation, and workers'movements, thoroughly analyzing Taiwan's social structure, class conditions, and public psychology among multiple factors. Not only did he theoretically solve the question of why unification is necessary, but he also answered how to advance unification in practice and proposed the pathway for national unification through"Integration of the Reunification and the Left(Tongzuo)".This indicates that Marxism,as a scientific worldview and methodology, will certainly play an important role in the journey to promote the complete reunification of the motherland and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
