The Content Evolution and Academic Mapping of Japan's Academic Studies on Taiwan:Based on the Database of Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research
Using the Database of Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research(KAKEN)as the data source, this study employs the visual analysis software CiteSpace and VOSviewer to construct a series of knowledge maps of Japan's academic studies on Taiwan from 1966 to 2019.The results reveal that Japan's academic studies on Taiwan have been continuous and in-depth,emphasizing collaboration and communication with research institutions at home and abroad, and producing representative scholars and research institutions.Observing the historical evolution of research themes, the early studies focused on regional and country studies, while research in the 1990s centered on the Japanese colonial period and ethnic cultures. From the 2000s onwards, there was a gradual shift towards areas such as tourism, architectural history, and literature.Since 2010,there has been a growing interest in international politics. In terms of theme clustering,Japan's academic studies on Taiwan have focused on seven major topics:"colonialism","education","East Asia","indigenous people","immigration",and"diplomacy".The interactions and fusion of these topics reflect the clear cross-disciplinary and expansive nature of the research.Tracking the evolution of Japanese academic research on Taiwan can provide valuable materials and insights for China's research community focused on Taiwan affairs, offering an outsider perspective and enriching the academic discussion.
